Landesstruktur:  Flaches Schwemmland im Delta großer Flüße, nur der Südosten (Chittagong Hills) ist hügelig bis bergig. Demzufolge wird das Land zwar schon seit Urzeiten von Überschwemmungen heimgesucht, doch nimmt die Gefahr durch den Anstieg des Meeresspiegels und Waldraubbau am Oberlauf der Flüße zu. Eine Begegnung dieser Gefahr durch den Bau von Dämmen wäre selbst mit gigantischem finanziellen Aufwand technisch unmöglich. Wälder finden sich noch in den Sundarbans und im östlichen Hügelland.
